Dr. Richard Nduhuura was appointed Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in August 2012. He is a highly accomplished professional with extensive experience in public service and government. Prior to his current assignment, Dr. Nduhuura held several Cabinet positions as Minister of State for Health until 2011, Minister of State for Local Government, 2005-2006, Minister of State for Trade, 2003-2005, and Minister of State for Industry.
He also served as a Veterinary Officer from 1979 to 1989, General Secretary of Bushenyi District Local Council (LC-V), Chairperson, Bushenyi District Service Commission, 1998-2001, and Member of Parliament of Uganda representing Igara County East from 2001 until 2011.
Born on February 17, 1956, he studied veterinary medicine at Makerere University Kampala, and graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. Dr. Richard Nduhuura is married to Ms. Clare Nduhuura, and they have three children. He enjoys farming, with particular interest in raising livestock.
